Carbon Transit to resume Wednesday

Carbon County Community Transit will resume limited Lynx bus service next week. The Lynx will be operating under a modified schedule and only operating Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and only within Carbon County.

The fixed-route bus service, suspended on March 26 due to the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, is scheduled to begin operating again Wednesday. CCCT will use a modified Lynx 2 schedule for the foreseeable future. The schedule will run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between Coaldale and Palmerton.

With Carbon County moving to the yellow designation on Friday, the decision was made to partially restore the service. Shared Ride paratransit service provided by CCCT has been available since the start of the outbreak for essential trips.

Owen P. O’Neil, Executive Director of the Allentown-based Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority, which administers and operates CCCT for the county, stressed that the LYNX vehicles will be cleaned to rigorous standards. Riders will be required to wear face coverings when riding the Lynx service until further notice unless they are medically unable to do so. Bus operators will also wear face coverings until further notice.

The new Lynx schedule details are posted at www.carbontransit.com. Further information is also available by calling 610-776-7433 and selecting Option 4.
