Schuylkill Haven state police — crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating the following crashes on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:40 p.m. on May 10 at the intersection of Route 61 and Tumbling Run Road in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Russell B. Yerger, 25, of Boyertown, was driving a 2010 Dodge Caliber westbound on Tumbling Run Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Route 61 when his vehicle was struck by a 2013 Mazda Speed 6 driven northbound by Gerald Hylan, 52, of Hazleton. No one was injured.

Yerger was cited for vehicle entering or crossing a roadway.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:52 a.m. on May 14 along Peach Mountain Road in Norwegian Township. Dawn E. Newberry, 20, of Frackville, was driving a 2002 Ford Focus northbound when the vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole.

Damages were major to the front end of the Ford. Newberry was not injured.

Newberry was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. A DUI charge is pending blood test results, troopers said.

• Troopers investigated a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 895 and Moyers Station Road in Wayne Township on May 16 about 10:46 p.m.

Troopers said Jonathan J. Banket, 37, of Schuylkill Haven, was northbound on Moyers Station Road operating a 2006 Ford Ranger when he stopped at an intersection with Route 895.

He then attempted to cross the intersection, but failed to notice a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro traveling westbound. The Camaro, driven by Slade E. Baker, 25, of Schuylkill Haven, struck the front passenger side of the Ranger. Both vehicles had to be towed. There were no injuries.

Banket was cited for stop signs and yield signs.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:16 p.m. on May 17 along Mahantongo Mountain Road in Upper Mahantongo Township.

Troopers said Clayton A. Bixler, 45, of Hegins, was driving a 2006 Subaru Baja southbound when his vehicle crossed over the northbound lane and dropped down an embankment on the left side of the road. Bixler was not injured. The Subaru had to be towed.

He was cited for the crash.
