Joseph Pologruto, 51, of Saylorsburg, was committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, following his arraignment on May 9 on charges of simple assault and harassment after an incident at 4:01 p.m. at a residence in the 100 block of Vista Drive, Ross Township.

State police at Lehighton said they were called there to investigate an assault incident and were told by the victim, a 53-year-old woman, also of Saylorsburg, that Pologruto assaulted her. Police said she had face and head injuries.

Pologruto was taken into custody and arraigned.
