Free classes

During this time of coronavirus and social distancing, Penn State Extension Nutrition Links has some new tools available to reach our limited resource participants. If you or someone you know of recently lost their job because of COVID-19, these lessons have shown to help stretch food dollars, give ideas for easy, healthy, low-cost recipes and teach new skills in the kitchen.

Participants may take six online nutrition education courses.

Each course is about 20 minutes long and consists of 6-8 short videos plus a recipe demo, move more activities and resource materials.

Participants work with their county Nutrition Education Adviser to complete entry and exit paperwork along with the lessons above and a Fix it Safe lesson by phone or online meeting.

This series of 7 lessons will qualify for a certificate of completion and graduation from the Nutrition Links program. Participants have used these certificates of completion for resumes and or job interviews.

The online series must be completed within 90 days.

For more information, contact Mary R. Ehret, M.S., R.D., L.D.N., Nutrition Links Supervisor in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Carbon, Schuylkill, Sullivan and Bradford counties at mre2@psu.edu or 570-825-1701.
