State police at Frackville reported investigating several crashes:

• A crash was reported on April 6 at 6:59 p.m.

Troopers said Sadath U. Naser, 50, of Bayonne, New Jersey, was operating a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia on April 6 southbound on Route 924 in East Union Township. Naser lost control of the rig while negotiating a left hand curve. The truck rolled over onto its passenger side and slid off the road onto the shoulder.

Naser was not injured. The rig had to be towed. Naser was cited for the crash.

The second crash occurred on April 10 about 9:36 p.m. along Interstate 81 in Cass Township. Troopers said Iyana M. Eccles, 31, of Newark, New Jersey, was driving a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer southbound when he noticed the vehicle was on fire.

He pulled to the side of the road as the fire rapidly spread. He was able to get to the truck safely. The truck was destroyed by the flames.

The nearby embankment was also set on fire due to the incident. The right southbound lane was closed for about an hour and half.

Assisting troopers were volunteers from the Altamont and Englewood fire companies of Frackville.
