Eatery, community team up for Easter meal for workers

Joey B’s teamed with Schiff’s foods on Easter Sunday in an effort to show appreciation toward the dedicated members of the community working on Easter, and who could not be with their families. Local EMT/paramedic, police and 911 personnel were served a fully prepared meal consisting of a salad with dressing, ham, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, as well as a dessert for the finishing touch.

Chip Solt, who runs Joey B’s, does business with Schiff’s foods regularly, and recently had an idea in the face of the pandemic to give back to the community during what can be trying times, especially on holidays.

Among the local organizations that received the Easter dinners were Palmerton, Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Walnutport, Franklin Township, Lehigh Township, as well as the Pennsylvania State Police at the Lehighton barracks. We successfully prepared 123 meals for delivery,” said Solt, organizer and facilitator.

“With so many followers on our Facebook page, we had about 100 volunteers lined up within 20 minutes of posting the request for help with deliveries online. It was amazing,” Solt said.

Joey B’s organized and coordinated pickup and delivery times while having the full prepareddinners ready to go as soon as volunteers arrived to pick up the entrees neatly wrapped and packed in large boxes.
