Woman facing drunkenness count

A Tamaqua woman is facing a charge of public drunkenness following an incident that occurred just after noon on March 27.

Borough police said a borough employee reported to police that a intoxicated woman was outside in the police department parking lot.

Alysha Hartshorne, 33, of the 600 block of Washington Street, learning on a pole. She was unable to stand without swaying and during a conversation with officers she said she was “high.” Officers asked her where she lived, and she replied, “earth.” When asked what was up, she replied, “the sky.” Police then asked her to return to her home, but she said, “no.”

Police then took her into custody and placed her in a holding cell in the station. While processing her it was learned there was an active warrant for her arrest issued to Pottsville police. Pottsville police instructed Tamaqua police to tell her to report to the office of District Judge James Reilly of Pottsville. At 2:35 p.m. she was released from custody.
