Police report on crashes

Police reported on the following crashes:

• A Schuylkill County driver was involved in a one-vehicle crash in Luzerne County at 12:09 a.m. March 17.

State police at Hazleton said Kelly R. Brotzman, 36, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander westbound on Saint Anns Road in Hazle Township, when she said a deer was on the road in front of her. She swerved to avoid hitting the animal. Her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole along the berm.

The Uplander sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be towed. Brotzman was not injured. She was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:22 p.m. March 16 along Route 813 in Cressona.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Ann V. Malantic-Lin, 53, of Robesonia, Berks County, was attempting to turn left onto 183 from Front Street and failed to see a 2007 Ford Econoline E150 traveling northbound and driven by Michael J. Shappell, 65, of Pine Grove. Malantic-Lin pulled directly into Shappell’s path with the van striking Malantic-Lin’s 2018 Toyota Rav4.

No one was injured. The RAV4 had to be towed. Malantic-Lin was cited for the crash.

• On Feb. 26 at 8:25 a.m. a one-vehicle crash was reported along Route 125 in Porter Township. Troopers said Obedience J. Rocca, 23, of Gratz, Dauphin County, was driving a 2005 Buick Century westbound when the vehicle left the roadway on the right side and struck several small trees along the berm. Troopers said Rocca fell asleep. No injuries were reported. Rocca was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 2:40 p.m. on March 21 along Route 183, in Wayne Township. State police at Schuylkill Haven said David P. Meyers, 66, of Auburn, operating a 2012 Honda Pilot stopped in traffic waiting for another driver to make a left turn when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2010 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Dale E. Gilbert, 69, also of Auburn. The Colorado had to be towed.

Meyers complained of neck and back pain and was transported to a hospital.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 9:05 p.m. on March 26 along Route 895 in West Brunswick Township. State police at Schuylkill Haven said Eric Perry, 53, of East Orange, New Jersey, operating a Penske box truck, was merging from Route 61 onto 895 when the truck overturned due to Perry driving too fast for the turn. The vehicle crossed over the double line and into the oncoming lane of travel then slid across the white fog line impacting with the guide rail.

Perry and his passenger, Ruben Z. Roy-Hill, 32, also of East Orange, were not injured. The truck had to be towed.

• State police at Schuylkill Haven said on April 1 at 3:30 p.m. a crash involving two trucks occurred along Route 901 (Gordon Nagle Trail), in North Manheim Township. Herman Noble, 75, of Norristown, was stopped while northbound on the left shoulder in a dirt lot operating a 2017 Freightliner tractor. Noble attempted to enter the northbound lane and pull out in front of Zachary D. Brett, 26, of Palmerton, who was driving a 2011 Ford F750 truck northbound. Brett’s truck then struck Noble’s truck. No one was injured.

Noble was cited in the crash.
