Catholics throughout the Diocese of Allentown – socially distant but united in prayer – are invited to use technology to join Bishop Alfred Schlert in a series of special livestreamed Masses from the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena starting Sunday.

It is an opportunity to journey spiritually with Jesus Christ, from his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, to the Last Supper on Holy Thursday, his Crucifixion on Good Friday, and his Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Bishop Schlert will be the celebrant and homilist at all liturgies.

“While this is certainly the most unusual Easter season in memory,” said Bishop Schlert.

“This year provides a unique opportunity for everyone to come together as one Roman Catholic Family of Faith by virtue of technology.”

The liturgies of Holy Week are rich with symbolism and extremely meaningful for Catholics around the world.

While the Bishop has been offering daily livestream Masses from his private chapel, moving these special Masses to the Cathedral provides the opportunity to more fully carry out some of the rites associated with the celebrations.

The Masses can be seen live at www.ad-today.com and on the Diocese’s YouTube channel.

They also will be available for later viewing on YouTube.

The schedule is:

• Palm Sunday, April 5, at 10 a.m.

• Holy Thursday, April 9, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, at 7 p.m.

• Good Friday, April 10, Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion, at 3 p.m.

• Easter Vigil, Saturday, April 11, 8 p.m.

• Easter Sunday, April 12, at 10 a.m.

Bishop Schlert will continue his daily practice of offering livestreamed Mass from his private chapel, also available at www.ad-today.com, except on days when he will celebrate Mass at the Cathedral.
