Two charged in DUI cases

Police reported two people were charged with driving under the influence in separate incidents.

• A Lehigh County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash that was reported on March 21 at 1:54 a.m. along Ulrich Mill Road in Lynn Township.

State police at Fogelsville said Jacob W. Schellhamer, 22, of New Tripoli, was operating a 1996 Geo Tracker northbound when the vehicle went off the road and down a steep embankment. The vehicle’s undercarriage struck the embankment, causing the Geo to overturn onto its passenger side and begin to roll. The vehicle rolled about one full term before coming to rest on its passenger side in a ditch.

Schellhamer sustained injuries to his head, but refused immediate medical attention. He was later transported to St. Luke’s Allentown Campus. He was taken into custody on a charge of driving under the influence.

• Amy Miklos, 24, of Walnutport, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a traffic stop made by state police at the Bethlehem barracks at 1:54 a.m. March 26 at the intersection of Conestoga and Spring streets in Bethlehem.

Police said they stopped a 2006 Honda she was driving because the headlights and rear lamps were not illuminated. Police said Miklos displayed indicators of impairment that would render her incapable of driving, resulting in her being taken into custody.
