Man charged with punching woman multiple times

A Summit Hill man has been charged with assault for punching a woman several times and injuring her.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Jarrod Bulger of the Lansford Borough Police Department:

At 2:45 p.m. March 16, Bulger was dispatched to a home in the 300 block of West Ridge Street for a domestic assault in which the victim said that the defendant, Joseph Kosalko Jr., 40, assaulted her and fled the residence.

Bulger requested Summit Hill police to be on the lookout for Kosalko due to past incidents.

The victim said that she and Kosalko got into a fight over a TV and DVD player, and that Kosalko wanted to take the items because one of the victim’s children was using them and not one of his.

The victim said that Kosalko ripped the DVD player out of the wall and began wrapping the cord. He went for the TV and the victim said she pushed it back after telling him no.

The victim said the TV then fell to the ground and Kosalko became irate and punched her in the back with a closed fist multiple times.

The victim said she felt as if Kosalko had broken her ribs, and EMS was requested to evaluate her injuries.

EMS recommended the victim go to the hospital after one of the EMS workers examined her and saw lacerations and bruising to her bottom left side just above her hip.

While the victim was being evaluated by EMS, Summit Hill police notified Bulger that they had Kosalko stopped, and Bulger requested they take him into custody.

Kosalko faces charges of simple assault and harassment.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail.
