Seven area athletes honored at Moravian

Seven former Times News area athletes were among the 64 Moravian College student-athletes that were recently welcomed into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.

Chi Alpha Sigma works with NCAA and NAIA member institutions to recognize outstanding college student-athletes for their successes both on the field of competition and in the classroom. To be eligible for Chi Alpha Sigma, student-athletes must be a junior and/or senior with a 3.4 or higher GPA and have earned a varsity letter. The new inductees will receive a certificate and a medallion with the 29 seniors also receiving an honors cord.

Moravian’s 2020 Chi Alpha Sigma honorees include 29 seniors and 35 juniors.

Seniors from the area included Northwestern graduates Rachel Mikols (cross country, track and field) and Vanessa Blose (track and field), and Northern Lehigh grad Gavin Kemery (cross country, track and field).

Juniors honored were Panther Valley’s Brendan Morgans (football), Tamaqua’s Riley McHugh (soccer), Jim Thorpe’s Derek Scott (track and field) and Marian’s Camaryn Wheeler (track and field).
