Rush plans park improvements

Rush Township is seeking Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grants earmarked for improvements at Grier City and Miller parks.

During a meeting Thursday, the supervisors authorized the grant applications, which are $60,000 for each park. The money would be used for pavilions, walkways, parking and signage at each park.

The township is committing $37,923 of township funds, which includes $25,863 plus $12,060 in work done by township employees. The estimated cost of all the improvements is $105,885.

The annual Easter egg hunt, usually held at Miller Park, will be held as a Drive By Easter Egg Basket pickup at noon April 4.

Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky released the monthly activity report for February. Township officers responded to 150 incidents, which included 24 traffic incidents and 29 traffic ordinance violations, issuing 27 traffic citations. The department made 15 criminal arrests.
