Coaldale council discusses garbage concerns

At a recent Coaldale council meeting resident Bob Demyanovich asked the board if they’re aware of the towns’ excess garbage. In response, the board indicated that they’re aware of the situation.

Council President Angela Krapf said the town pays the garbage collectors around $15,000 a month.

Council Vice President Claire Remington followed the statement by saying that the trash bill is one of the largest bills for the town.

“A lot of times now, if you’re putting more than six bags out, you’re going to see the garbage guy put little tags on there,” she said. “I’ve called over there and they tell me that our agreement says the limit is five or six bags.”

Remington added that the borough has to try to stick with the agreed-upon limits and noted that it’s a conversation that needs to be had, including the topics of recycling and ash disposal.
