Boy Scout asks Lansford Council about youth participation

Robert Williams, a Boy Scout in Troop 765, attended Lansford Council’s meeting last week to ask questions on behalf of his team. His questions pertained to the reopening of the Lansford Pool, how the youth could become more involved in the community, and refurbishing the Ashton Hill Skate Park.

Council member Martin Ditsky said he recalled bids that came in a few years ago that proposed the skate park equipment be updated and the park itself moved closer to the street, but he didn’t know what happened from there.

Council President Bruce Markovich said it was the first he heard that anyone wanted the skate park to be worked on but he said he would take it into consideration.

A few of the council members had suggestions for improvement in youth participation in the community.

“We’re looking for assistance in helping with the parks and some cleanup,” said Mayor Michele Bartek. “It would help us improve the parks even more.”
