Kinder’s letter updates Tamaqua families

School districts statewide have begun doing whatever it takes to prepare for school to resume, if and when it happens.

Tamaqua Superintendent Ray Kinder sent a letter home to families within the district on Wednesday to provide an update on all things COVID-19 related.

Kinder said that the district started its cleaning process on Monday. Only essential school district employees were working at the time.

A follow-up on student meals was given. Kinder noted that Tamaqua applied for the ability to serve meals and hopes to begin distribution on Monday. If approved, Kinder will send another letter to district families.

There are online learning resources available for students on Tamaqua’s district website. It is not mandatory to participate in the online exercises.

As for school in general, Kinder said in his letter, “It is my hope that this situation subsides quickly allowing us to come back on the 30th. We have, however, begun thoughts, plans and preparation for a more extended break. Much will need to be decided and approved by the state in order to allow alternative educational learning programs to occur. We strive to be ready when and if we are given specific direction by the state. Rest assured that we will work with all students to provide the best educational experience possible given the extraordinary circumstance.”
