State police report on Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported on Monday about 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of Route 443 and Pine Creek Drive, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Robert A. Bechtel, 30, of Orwigsburg, was eastbound on Route 443 when his 2017 Toyota Highlander was struck by a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Gabriele M. Boyer, 81, of Tamaqua, who was at a stop sign on Pine Creek Drive.

No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 2:05 a.m. on Wednesday along Chee Street in Ryan Township. Daniel J. McManus, 40, of Barnesville, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix westbound when he failed to negotiate a left curve, drove off the road and hit several trees. The vehicle then overturned onto its roof and caught fire.

Ryan Township and Delano fire companies responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. McManus was injured and taken to St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, by Ryan Township ambulance.

Troopers said McManus was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• On March 13 at 9:06 a.m. a one-vehicle crash was reported along Interstate 81 in New Castle Township. Luke J. Lynch, 33, of Conyngham, Luzerne County, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado southbound when he became distracted. The truck left the road and struck the guide rail. Lynch was not injured. Troopers said Lynch was cited for the crash.
