I-80 ramps in Kidder to close until May

Rampways off Interstate 80 near Kidder Township will close for construction this week, and they won’t reopen until May, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

Ramps at Exit 277 off the expressway will close March 2 for reconstruction.

Right lanes heading westbound and eastbound on Interstate 80 will also shut off to traffic as paving takes place.

Concrete on the ramps will be milled down and replaced, said Ron Young, of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Existing concrete on the main line, he added, will also be broken up, and the roadway repaved.

The all-day, 24-hour restrictions will take effect this week and go through the project’s estimated completion date, which is May 21.

The department laid out the following detours for motorists affected by the closures:

Access to I-80 West from the Pennsylvania Turnpike will be detoured on Route 940 West to Route 534 south to I-80 West.

Access to I-80 East from the turnpike will be detoured on Route 940 East to Route 115 South to I-80 East.

Access to the turnpike from Interstate 80 will be detoured at Exit 274 to Route 534 north to Route 940 east to the turnpike.
