The Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2020 Summer Concert Series schedule at the Tamaqua Train Station.

Kicking off the series will be the Cressona Band, sponsored by Shafer’s Pharmacy. This event will be held on May 27 from 7-8 p.m. All other concerts will be held on Thursday nights from 6:30-8 p.m. except for the two Sunday night concerts, which will run from 3-5 p.m.

Beginning on June 4, there will be a concert every Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. through Sept. 10, except for July 2. The two Sunday evening concerts will be held June 28 and July 12.

In June, Heisler’s Dairy Bar will sponsor Ricky & The Ricardo’s and their unique mix of classic rock (June 4), followed by the classic rock and ’90s rock of Six to Midnight (June 11), sponsored by the Bowe & Odorizzi Law Offices.

Bee’s Knees (a ’60s classic rock band), sponsored by Mauch Chunk Trust Company (June 18), and the Fat Cats (featuring former members of the Other Side), sponsored by the Tamaqua Station Restaurant (June 25), keep things rocking. The month of June finishes with the outlaw country sounds of Gunslinger, sponsored by M&T Band (Sunday, June 28).

After a week off, the concerts pick right back up with the classic rock and jam band stylings of Magic Stew, sponsored by Versum Materials (July 9) and the rocking ’60s and ’70s of the Skook Jam Band, sponsored by Explore Schuylkill (Sunday, July 12).

Next up is a favorite of the Summer Concert Series — the great oldies sound of It Takes Two (July 16), sponsored by Cal’s Tire & Auto Service. The acoustic stylings of the Boys Upstairs, sponsored by Williamson, Friedberg & Jones Law Offices (July 23) and the rocking sounds of 8:17, sponsored by the Lehigh Carbon Community College (July 30) round out the month of July in style.

August kicks off with a fantastic dose of classic rock from the Shellshocked Churchills (Aug. 6), sponsored by Rose Beck (ReMax of Reading) and Linda Marchalk (Northeast Edge Associates Bureau). Next up are the fantastic sounds of ’60s and ’70s classic rock courtesy of Vinyl Persuasion (sponsored by St. Luke’s Miners Campus) (Aug. 13) and Chuck Cahoe (of the New Individuals), sponsored by Croll’s Coal & Oil (Aug. 20). The month of Aug. finishes strong with the bluesy sound of Sterling Koch & Freeway Jam, sponsored by the American Cancer Society (Aug. 27).

September’s shows include two excellent groups: The Ridgeline Band, sponsored by Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill (Sept. 3) and Smooth Retsina Glow, sponsored by Explore Schuylkill (Sept. 10).

There is no admission fee to attend these concerts, and concertgoers are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to make themselves comfortable.

In order to ensure that everyone is safe the Chamber passes along the following regulations of the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad, whose property fronts the Train Station platform on which the concerts are held. Utilize the sidewalk to cross the railroad tracks, rather than crossing the tracks directly. In addition, please do not sit, allow children to play, or otherwise occupy the tracks or the ballast (gravel) at any time. Also, keep in mind that consumption of alcoholic beverages in public is against the law. The same applies to Railroad property.

The Summer Concert Series is a function of the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce. Neither the Train Station Restaurant nor The Station Creamery have any involvement with obtaining the performers or the sponsors. Please refrain from contacting them about the Series, other than to make reservations.
