Pocono Garden Club meets March 10

Learn how to create a simple floral arrangement with fresh or silk flowers when the Pocono Garden Club meets at 1 p.m. on March 10 in the Monroe County Conservation District, 8050 Running Valley Road, Bartonsville.

The instructional program will be presented by members Peg Zukawski, Maryann LaPenna and Joan Leonard. It is intended to encourage and give members confidence to enter the monthly design exhibits and the design competition at the club’s annual flower show and sale, “A Magical Kingdom, Disney in Flowers,” on July 11 at Northampton Community College.

March’s design category is titled “Wearin’ of the Green.”

Create a design of choice in floral Oasis with the color green dominating. Use fresh or silk flowers. Accessory are allowed.

The horticulture specimen for March would be a forced flowering branch such as forsythia, quince, pussy willow or witch hazel. Use one stem not to exceed 24 inches, sized in proportion to its clear glass container.

The houseplant would be a green foliage or succulent. Entries should be brought in 30 minutes before the meeting begins.
