Carbon drug task force reports arrests

The Carbon County Drug Task Force reported arrests made recently in ongoing investigations.

The force reported it recently wrapped up an ongoing drug distribution investigation last week. The yearlong investigation involving narcotic agents from the state Attorney General’s Office in Allentown, Lehighton and Summit Hill police departments.

The defendants in that case were identified as Joe Forster, Allison Sanders, Chris Felker, Brian Kehl, Jesse Lincovich, and Chris Keer Jr. All defendants are currently incarcerated.

The Attorney General’s Office will be prosecuting the case. Their charges are: corrupt organization — two counts, delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and criminal conspiracy.

In another case police reported the arrest of James Downs Jr., 55, of the 1400 block of Center Street, Jim Thorpe. Police said beginning in January/February 2019, information was received from multiple sources regarding the sale of narcotics from a garage to the rear of 209 E. White St., Summit Hill.

On Dec. 4 police executed a search warrant at the location and found Downs inside. Downs was found in possession of a switchblade knife and a small plastic bag containing green/brown vegetable matter suspected to be marijuana.

Downs admitted the seized items belonged to him. He was charged with possessing a prohibited offensive weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Also found in the garage was Stephen Wargo, 50, of E. Water Street, Summit Hill, who was detained.

He was found with a metal container with 10 pills inside, suspected to be Vicodin, and a black bag containing a glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana, wrapping papers and a “roach” clip. Wargo admitted the items were his.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
