Loud music complaint leads to charges in S. Hill

A Summit Hill man was charged after police responded to his residence for a loud music complaint.

Borough police said at 11:11 p.m. on Feb. 18 they were dispatched to 114 W. Fell St., for a loud music complaint.

Officers said they could hear music coming from the residence as they got of their patrol car. Police went to the front door and the owner, Ricky Lee Christman, 33, answered the door. He was told the music was too loud and he should turn it down. Police quoted him as saying, “yes sir, no problem” and closed the door.

Police said they then heard Christman used an obscenity and he said, “I’ll turn it up. I know my rights.”

Police returned to the front door but Christman yelled through the door that the dead bolt was broke and he could not open the door. He told officers to return with a warrant.

Moments later police were dispatched to the residence as the music was reported to be even louder. Officers could hear the music was louder than before. Officers knocked on the door and Christman eventually answered it. When he was told he was under arrest he attempted to go back into the residence.

After several attempts, police said they had to use substantial force to take Christman into custody.

He was taken to the police station where he admitted he was trying to annoy his neighbors by playing loud music. He was charged with persistent disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and harassment. He was arraigned and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning. He has since posted bail and was released.
