Community meal

A free community meal will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Feb. 27 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Come for a free meal and fellowship.

Food pantry

The Food Pantry for Palmerton area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton Towamensing and Lower Towamensing Townships, and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown.

The Palmerton Food Bank is always in need of canned goods, nonperishable food items and monetary donations. If you can help, please bring your food items to any CACPAC member. Most area churches collect on a regular basis.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will hold worship services on Sunday at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday school follows the children’s sermon during the 9 a.m. service, about 9:15 a.m. Adult Sunday school meets in the choir room at 9 a.m.

Ash Wednesday service with Ashes will be held Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.

Support group

The monthly Grief and Loss Support Group at Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will be held on Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. Directed by professional counselor, Sue Featro, M.E.D., E.D.D., M.S. Counseling, this group is for people experiencing grief due to trauma, loss or death. It is an effort to assist people in the surrounding community to heal and find peace.

Mardi Gras party

A Mardi Gras Party with “Stereo Type” will be held Saturday from 8:30-11:30 p.m., at the Palmerton Sokol Hall, 452 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton.

Movie night

Movie night for adults features “Loving,” a romantic drama about an interracial couple facing tremendous obstacles in 1958 Virginia. Rated PG-13. Approximately 2 hours. Popcorn and bottled water provided. Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Palmerton Area Library.

St. John’s Lutheran Church

Church members are reminded of the annual congregational meeting, which will be held following worship service on Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The covered dish lunch will be served and the meeting held immediately following lunch.

People or groups are needed to sign-up for the weekly soup and sandwich suppers. The first one is March 4 at 6 p.m. Please pick a week and bring your favorite soup and sandwich. Vespers follow at 7 p.m.

Basket social

Beat the Winter Blues with the 23rd annual St. John Neumann School Basket Social held at Sacred Heart Church/Gymnasium, 259 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. The event will be held Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Drawing begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Need not be present to win. The kitchen will be open and serving refreshments.

Faith Alive

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. holds Sunday contemporary worship at 8:30 a.m. and traditional worship at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Rob Timlin.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. with classes for all ages.

Prayer and praise service is held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Also Ash Wednesday Service at 7 p.m. on Feb. 26.

Youth Group will meet at 6 p.m. Feb. 23. All youth 12 years to 12th grade are welcome. Snow tubing event scheduled for Feb. 16 at 12:30 p.m. Contact Jessica at 570-982-4062.

Adult Bible study is Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.

Men’s Bible study every Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Prayer Shawl Ministry is Feb. 27 from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. They will be making scarves for needy children in the Palmerton Area School District. Contact Linda at 610-852-3833.
