West Penn Township has decided to disband several temporary committees.

Township supervisors unanimously agreed Monday morning to dissolve four committees, effective March 1.

They include the Sewage Committee; Water Resource & Planning Steering Committee; Zoning Update Steering Committee; and Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee.

Board solicitor Paul J. Datte said he believes that dissolving the committees “brings some finality.”

“You can always bring them back on an as-needed basis,” Datte said. “If there’s a need to reconvene in the future, you can do that.”

Supervisor Tim Houser said his only concern was because the township was close to having public review of its zoning ordinance, specifically with regard to water extraction.
