The Northwestern girls continued their winning ways Friday by rolling past Salisbury.

Other area winners included the Pleasant Valley, Marian and Tamaqua boys.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Salisbury-Northwestern

Northwestern won its fifth game in a row by cruising to a 66-22 Colonial League victory over Salisbury.

Sydney Sevrain scored a game-high 19 points, including seven in the first quarter when the Tigers (17-4; 14-2) raced to a 20-8 lead. The winners also received 12 points from Alexandra Lister, while Kailyn Jones chipped in with eight.

Wilson-Northern Lehigh

Northern Lehigh got off to a good start, but Wilson stormed back to claim a 36-23 Colonial League victory.

Madison Seier scored a team-high 10 points for the Bulldogs (10-11, 7-9), who led 12-5 after the first quarter.

Almond Goodman paced the Warriors (12-8; 9-7) with a game-high 12 points.

Pleasant Valley-Stroudsburg

A strong second half helped Stroudsburg claim a critical 59-53 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.

The Mountain Division leaders got 18 points from Emily Strunk. Mahongany Worsley-Wooten scored 14 points, while Kayla Worsley-Wooten added 13 for the Mounties (19-2, 13-2).

Alyssa Wagner had 20 points for the Bears (13-8, 8-8), who have dropped back-to-back games. Cam Caffrey added 17 points.

Pleasant Valley’s ability to make free throws helped the Bears gain a 59-53 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Stroudsburg.

Joel Contreras scored a game-high 16 points for PV. The winners, who improved to 8-13, also received 14 points from Shelby Joyner.

Balanced scoring helped Marian pull out a 56-48 Schuylkill League victory over Shenandoah Valley.

Dante Agosti led the Colts (16-3; 9-2) with 16 points, while Chris Ritsick contributed 15. The area’s leading scorer, Tyler Fritz, chipped in with 14 points and five assists.

Pine Grove pulled away from Lehighton in the fourth quarter to earn a 55-44 Schuylkill League victory.

Zak Hlavaty and Cody Griffiths both scored 13 points for the Cardinals (9-10).

The Indians (8-12; 4-8), who trailed by only one point after three frames, received 13 points from Zach Hunsicker and 11 from Richard Yturrino.
