Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday evening worship service will be held at the Hometown Nursing Center from 6:30-7 p.m.

Every Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Hope In The Mountains Nar-Anon Family Group meets at 57 Hunter St. If you have questions or are interested in attending these meetings, contact Mark at 570-952-5098. Beginning Feb. 6, the meeting time will be 7 to 8:15 p.m.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.

Soup cans for Souper Sunday will be donated to the Salvation Army and the first of the month offering will be donated to the soup kitchen.

Guild meets at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 at the social hall.

Tamaqua Adult Day Care

The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center Board of Directors held their monthly meeting in the new center on Jan. 21. The new location is 801 E. Broad St. The center provides safe, supervised daytime care. The center’s program is designed for older or disabled adults who are unable to be home alone, need socialization or whose caregivers need respite from the daily responsibilities of care giving.

Services available include a wide range of activities, nutritious breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snack. Special dietary needs are taken into consideration. Trained administration of prescribed medications including insulin for diabetics.

Staff will help with toileting, walking and eating. Transportation services, professional, compassionate staff trained in CPR, first aid, AED and registered nurse on staff. Also, visiting podiatrist. Hairdresser services available once a week.

Contracts with Schuylkill and Carbon Counties’ Agencies on Aging assist with funding for qualified participants who are financially unable to afford the daily fee. Contact the facility director to obtain an application and schedule a tour of the facility. 570-668-6556.

DAV representative

A Disabled American Veteran Department service officer will be available monthly at the Tamaqua Borough to meet with any disabled veterans from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., no appointment necessary.

Starting in February, the monthly visit will be the first Wednesday of every month.
