Fatal wreck following police chase in Monroe Co.

An 18-year-old died Sunday night in a Monroe County crash while reportedly fleeing state police.

Anthony P. Yerance, of Wind Gap, was pronounced dead following the wreck on Cherry Valley Road in Hamilton Township, around 8:40 p.m.

A passenger in the vehicle was hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to state police, prior to the crash Troopers responded to Featherman Road, where a large group of vehicles were gathered. Police received unconfirmed reports of drag racing and gunshots.

While police were in the parking lot, a black Chevrolet truck attempted to leave and struck a PSP cruiser, and four other occupied vehicles.

Troopers pursued the truck along Featherman Road and Cherry Valley Road. They reported the truck was speeding and passing vehicles by crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic.

At some point during the pursuit the driver lost control of the truck and the vehicle rolled over.

Police said Yerance, the driver, was fatally injured. His passenger, Aaron D. Dotter, 18 of Nazareth, was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest with suspected serious injuries.
