Hoagie and soup sale

Zion Lutheran’s Culinary Crew’s annual football weekend hoagie and soup sale is underway.

Available soups include chicken noodle and ham & bean. Orders should be placed by Jan. 26 online at www.ziontamaqua.com or by calling 570-668-4451. The pickup date is Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Zion Lutheran is located at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets.

Seniors meet

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met Jan. 14 at Christ Church, Barnesville, with 51 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the reading “Cas of Life.”

Tillie Kochmar and Neal Flexer were added to the sick list, while new member Pat Tracy was given a warm welcome by the group.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 1 p.m. at Christ Church, Barnesville and is open to anyone 55 or older. The next meeting will be held on Jan. 28, weather permitting.

DAV representative

A Disabled American Veteran Department service officer will be available monthly at the Tamaqua Borough to meet with any disabled veterans from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., no appointment necessary. Starting in February, the monthly visit will be the first Wednesday of every month.

Community Dinner

Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., will hold a buffet style meatloaf dinner on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a charge and take-outs are available by calling 570-668-4630.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday life groups meet at 9:30 a.m. Also on Sunday the following committees will meet at noon: Christian Ed, Care and Connection, Global Outreach, Discipleship, Kitchen and Social Commission.
