Weekend Programs for Children

• Stick With Me, Kid: Jan. 11, 3-5 p.m.

Long-standing member of the National Toy Hall of Fame, the stick has been a childhood favorite for generations. This program is a totally hands-on investigation into 101 things to do with this simple, tactile toy.

Children of all ages are welcome to the free program, but all must dress to spend the afternoon outdoors. The day concludes with the stick-facilitated roasting of marshmallows over an outdoor campfire made of (you guessed it) sticks.

• Ranger Rick Club: “Winter Fun,” Jan. 12 at 1 p.m.

Open to all students in grades kindergarten through six, each meeting focuses on some aspect of the natural world. Children enjoy age-appropriate games, crafts, hikes and other activities. Programs are free for members, and a $5 per-child donation is requested of nonmembers.
