Man charged with threatening to kill officers and their families

An Albrightsville man has been charged for an incident on Christmas Day in which he threatened to kill police officers and their families.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Dane O’Brien of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:

At around 3:30 p.m. Dec. 25, O’Brien and officer Brian White were dispatched to an apartment in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue for a report of an unwanted man.

While en route, dispatch related that the man was refusing to leave the premises and was highly intoxicated.

Upon arrival, O’Brien made contact with the complainant, who said that she invited her ex-boyfriend, Randolph Brunson, 35, down from New York state and that he’s been arguing with her since his arrival.

She then requested that Brunson be removed from the residence.

O’Brien made contact with Brunson, who said that he’s in the process of leaving and that he’s removing all of his belongings from the residence before doing so.

After several requests for Brunson to leave, he refused to do so.

Brunson then proceeded to leave the apartment as O’Brien closely followed and several units arrived on scene to assist.

During this time, Brunson began to yell at responding officers.

After several requests for Brunson to desist, he failed to do so and continued to yell, at which time he was taken into custody before being transported back to the borough police station for processing.

Upon arrival, Brunson refused to exit the cruiser and began making several threats toward assisting officers indicating that he’s going to kill them.

In addition, while completing the necessary paperwork, he threatened to come to O’Brien’s and White’s residences to murder them and their families.

Brunson faces charges on two counts of terroristic threats; and one count each of defiant trespass; persistent disorderly conduct; and disorderly conduct.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 straight bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
