Healing for the Holidays fundraiser benefits Palmerton library

A successful Healing for the Holidays fundraiser for the Palmerton Area Library was recently held in Palmerton.

It was an afternoon to relax your body, mind and soul from your head to your toes.

Those who attended were able to choose to experience a chair neck message, foot message/reflexology, mini facial or a session of reiki.

Just for a small donation, men and women alike could experience approximately a 15-minute-long session of their choosing.

“This is just what I needed, and I hope they have it again” said Jane Borbe of Neffs, who was one of over 25 people who participated in the event.

Six area specialists set up their stations on the upper gallery of the library, including licensed massage therapists LuAnn Steigerwalt, of Head to Toe Massage in Walnutport, and Melissa Berwick, of Tranquility Spa in Palmerton.

Trell Schleicher, a licensed aesthetician and reiki practitioner of Lehighton, gave facial messages and skin analysis.

Reflexology and foot massages were given by Kiki Peppard, a reflexologist reiki practitioner/Qigong instructor of Palmerton.

Reiki specialists present were Frank Neri, of Healing with Reiki of Palmerton, and Shanna Szuch, of The Seventh Moon Wellness Spa in Lehighton.

“We enjoy doing this today. It is our way to give back to the community,” Steigerwalt said.

No admission was charged, and it was on a walk-in basis. Gift certificates from the participating specialists were on sale for last-minute Christmas gifts.

“This has always been a dream of mine. To bring attention to the public, to let them see and experience what we do,” Peppard said.

Door prizes were given out at the end of day, and free water and Christmas cookies were handed out to each person who attended.

Along with the event, there was a basket raffle of over 30 items and gift certificates in which to take chance.

All the proceeds from the event and the basket raffle were given to the library.
