The Marian boys basketball team utilized the long ball in a win over Weatherly on Friday.

Elsewhere, the Northern Lehigh boys and girls both picked up wins.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Marian-Weatherly

A big night from beyond the arc helped Marian come away with an 84-55 Schuylkill League win over Weatherly.

Tyler Fritz poured in a game-high 34 points for the Colts (7-0), who buried 13 threes in the game. Dante Agosti knocked down a team-high five treys and added 15 points, and Chris Ritsick added 12.

Scotty Zoscin and Elijah Derr led the Wreckers (5-4) with 19 points apiece. Mason Gerhart added 11 points.

Northern Lehigh-Pen Argyl

A big second quarter helped Northern Lehigh post a 39-31 Colonial League win over Pen Argyl.

Zach Moyer had nine of his game-high 17 points in the second period for the Bulldogs (2-9), who turned an 8-6 deficit after the first quarter into a 21-15 lead at the intermission.

Lucas Bettancourt had nine points for the Green Knights (2-7).

Kevin Schenk led the Tide (6-3) with 21 points.

Brandon Stilitino paced the Panthers (7-3) with 13 points. Aaron Gutierrez finished with 10 points.

Northwestern needed overtime to edge Bangor, 55-51, in Colonial League action.

Deven Bollinger and Nick Henry scored 13 points apiece to lead the Tigers..

Nate Owens had a game-high 21 points for Bangor.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pen Argyl-Northern Lehigh

Emma Niebell scored a team-high 14 points to help lead Northern Lehigh to a 41-36 Colonial League win over Pen Argyl.

The Bulldogs (4-5) also received 11 points from Kaylee Wilk, while Lauren Hoffman and Madison Seier each chipped in with eight.

Brooke Labarre and Macie Weber both finished with 15 points for the Knights (4-5).

Bangor bolted to an early lead and held off Northwestern for a 48-44 Colonial League win.

Madeline Minner hit five three-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points to lead the Slaters, who jumped out to a 20-9 first-quarter advantage.

The Tigers (8-3) received a team-high 13 points from Sydney Sevrain, while Alexandra Lister contributed 11. Paige Sevrain also added 10 points.

Panther Valley’s Erika Dubosky led all scorers with 24 points, but it was Pottsville that came away with a 49-39 Schuylkill League victory.

The Panthers (3-6) also received nine points from Megan Pascoe.

Madison Dalton hit five three-pointers to pace the Tide (3-6) with 15 points.

Panther Valley defeated Shenandoah, 68-41.

Stephen Hood led the Panthers with 20 points, while Chase Weaver and Drew Kokinda each added 12.

8TH GRADE

Shenandoah-Panther Valley

Panther Valley posted a 47-12 win over Shenandoah Valley.

Stephen Hood led the Panthers with 18 points, while Brady Jones added 14.

Pottsville-Tamaqua

Tamaqua topped Pottsville, 35-28.

Dennis paced the Blue Raiders with 12 points, while Coleman finished with 11 and Styka added eight.

7TH GRADE

Pottsville-Tamaqua

Luke Kane had 14 points to power Tamaqua to a 39-24 victory over Pottsville.

The Raiders also received 11 points from Noah Mateyak and seven from Cooper Ansbach.

JUNIOR HIGH

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tamaqua-PM West

Carly Minchoff tallied 10 points to lead Tamaqua to a 46-12 victory over Pocono Mountain West in the A game.

Lorelei Plasha added seven points.

In the B game, Tamaqua registered a 16-8 win. Sam Plasha had six points to lead the Raiders.
