To the editor:

On behalf of the staff and students of the Palmerton Area School District Music Department, I would like to thank the Palmerton area community as well as surrounding areas for all of the support shown to our musical groups over the past few years. Our marching band is the group that is most visible to the public because of our presence at football games and parades, and the band is very appreciative of the response the audiences have given us, as well as all of the positive comments and feedback from you.

We are especially grateful for all of the folks who made it a point to watch our field show this year and participate along with us for the call and response singing in “Minnie the Moocher” during the show. That was truly a highlight of every Friday night for us. Just in case you were not aware, there are a number of other musical performing groups in the district.

The students in our other musical ensembles would love to see you at our concert this Friday night, Dec. 13, in the high school auditorium, when the high school and junior high choruses and concert bands present our annual winter concert. We have lots of music to share, in a variety of styles including seasonal and holiday music, and are happy to offer this concert as a thank you for your support, and to provide you with a relaxing evening during which you can feel free to “forget about life for a while,” and to get into the spirit of the season.

The concert starts at 7 p.m., and admission is free. Thank you again for all of your support, and we hope to see you Friday night.
