A look back: Nov. 29, 1978

The Tamaqua Area School Board awarded $1.6 million in building contracts for the West Penn School last night at a special meeting. The school is undergoing extensive alterations and additions as part of the overall district school building program.

The general construction contract was awarded to Franklin Skepton of Pennsburg at more than $1 million; heating and ventilation contracts went to Rado Mechanical Corp., Berwick, at $338,000; plumbing contracts were awarded to Losch Boiler Sales and Service, Schuylkill Haven, at $119,700; and the electrical pact will be held by Shadle Electrical, Wilkes-Barre, at $182,931.
