Emergency personnel responded to a gas leak early this morning in Lehighton.

Borough fire Chief Pat Mriss said the incident occurred around 6:10 a.m. in the area of S. Fourth and Mahoning streets.

“There was a slight gas leak at the gas meter,” Mriss said. “UGI showed up and took care of the problem.”

Mriss said there were no injuries or damage that resulted from the incident.

He said the Lehighton Police Department and Lehighton fire police also assisted at the scene.

Mriss said they were on scene for about a half-hour.
