Election time is near, and we all need to be aware of our local candidates running for important offices. One office is the Carbon County Clerk of Courts. I wanted to take a minute to provide some information about one of the candidates for this position, Fran Heaney. Fran is an honest, dedicated and hardworking servant of Carbon County. These are qualities that are much needed in our clerk of courts.

Fran places the needs of the county often before her own, as she has worked tirelessly to reduce years of backlogged cases existing when she accepted the position as interim clerk of courts in 2018. She understands the importance of the position and ensures work is processed quickly and accurately as, in her short term to date, she implemented an electronic process to reduce years of paperwork. This process also created easier communication within the courthouse between her office, court administration and the judge. It also reduces the amount of paper that we need to have placed in storage.

She knew this was necessary as she has worked in the courthouse for 13 years, so she understands how to get things done. She respects the position and understands the responsibility we have placed on her. She is an excellent leader and builds an atmosphere that allows for effective and efficient work flow. She is a lifelong resident of the county and a friend of the community and the people she serves. We would be lucky to have her continue in this position going forward.
