2019 general election: Voters will decide multiple contested races in Schuylkill County

The Schuylkill County election in the Tamaqua area will feature eight contested municipal races, including the Tamaqua Area School District School Board race.

Voters can pencil in no more than two names for the Judge of the Superior Court. Amanda Green-Hawkins and Daniel D. McCaffrey are the Democratic candidates, while Megan McCarthy King and Christylee Peck represent the Republicans.

The four-year term of county commissioner features Democrats Gary J. Hess and Joe Palubinsky, while George F. Halcovage Jr. and Frank J. Staudenmeier are the Republicans.

County treasurer is a four-year term which either Democrat Catherine Cat Mahon or Republican Linda Gallo Marchalk will be deemed a winner.

Mark Atkinson, Democrat, and Bridget McGowan Miller, Republican, will race for the four-year prothonotary position.

Clerk of courts is a four-year term, featuring Democrat Ronald R. Pellish and Republican Maria Casey as opponents.

Another four-year term is up for grabs between Joe Dutchie Ferraro, Democrat, and Theresa Santai-Gaffney, Republican, for the Register of Wills.

County coroner will feature Democrat Deb Detweiler and Republican David J. Moylan. The winner will have a four-year term.

The Tamaqua Area School District has five four-year-term open seats. The Democratic candidates include Liz Pinkey, Karen Tharp, Justin D. Startzel, Cheryl Tennant Humes and Stacey Betz. The Republicans are Trina M. Schellhammer, Thomas J. Bartasavage Jr., Daniel E. Schoener, Larry A. Wittig and Melanie I.S. Dillman.
