Weatherly Legion meets in October

At the October Weatherly American Legion Post 360 meeting, the following officers for Legion year 2020 began their duties: Post Commander Christopher Keller, 1st Vice Commander Richard Blair, 2nd Vice Commander Arnold Keller, Finance Officer Thomas Keener, Adjutant Pastor Donald Adams, Judge Advocate Thomas Keener, Service Officer Pete Curtis, Chaplain Pastor Donald Adams, Sergeant at Arms Glen Younker and Assistant Sergeant at Arms Bruce Doney.

Present at the meeting were the first two veterans for 2020 to join Post 360 under the Legion Act passed by Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump: Marian Becker and Andrew Pfeiffer.

Guest Mr. Moran from Weatherly High School came to share some of the details of this year’s Veterans Day Program at the Middle School Gym on Nov. 11 beginning at 8:30 a.m., with the program starting at 9:30 and plans for a time capsule to be created by school students and filled with items from the students and veterans of the Legion to be opened in 50 years.

Discussed were plans for Veterans Day Programs at Heritage Hill, Weatherwood, the Carbon County Veterans Parade on Nov. 10 in Lehighton and the services at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the monument on Spring Street.
