Woman faces identity theft charges

A woman faces identity theft charges after a traffic stop.

Kristi Edmonds, 34, no known address, was charged with identity theft, possession of a controlled substance, false reports, tampering with evidence, false identification to law enforcement and possession of drug paraphernalia by McAdoo police after a Sept. 27 incident.

Police stopped a vehicle for speeding and subsequently arrested the driver and a rear seat passenger for warrants and drug-related offenses. Edmonds, the front-seat passenger was also informed that she would be arrested for drug-related crimes. She provided police with the name of Lisa Serfoss and a birth date of March 16, 1985, which was fake information that belonged to another person.

After filing the criminal complaint, it was discovered that the person charged was not the same person from the traffic stop. The investigation revealed that the person was Edmonds, who had an active arrest warrant at the time of contact with police.
