Halloween Parade, 7 p.m. Oct. 22.

Trick or Treat, 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31, Tamaqua Borough and Rush Township.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Oct. 10 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 40 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading “Autumn.”

Edith Varano and Mary Taylor were added to the sick list, while Margie Skymba was welcomed back. There will be a Chinese auction on Oct. 24.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the Rally Day service this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Special music will be provided by Witness. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. There will be a covered dish meal after the service.

Friday evening, Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m., The topic will be “What’s Next in Prophecy: The Two Ages”

A film “American Gospel” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19. Both sessions will be an hour long.

Tamaqua Advent Breakfast

Tickets for the ninth annual Tamaqua Community Advent Breakfast go on sale the beginning of November. The breakfast is Dec. 7, beginning at 9 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets. Tickets are available from each congregation’s Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network representative or church office. Tickets will also be available at the Tamaqua Community Art Center and Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce office. Richard Hadesty, Tamaqua Citizen of the Year, will deliver the Advent message. Carol Tempest is this year’s musical guest.

Tickets are limited and not sold at the door the day of the breakfast. The breakfast features a special candle lighting ceremony and is sponsored by TAFFN, the Tamaqua Area Ministerial Association, the Tamaqua Community Partnership and the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the Culinary Crew at Zion Lutheran Church.

TAFFN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the umbrella of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts ill officiate at the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Life groups meet at 9:30 a.m. Harvest Home will be observed as well. Scenic Sundae Life Group will meet at the Lehigh Canal, Weissport from 2-4 p.m. Women’s Life Group will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Pumpkin social

Zion Lutheran’s culinary team is hosting a pumpkin social from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 or sellout.

Homemade pumpkin waffles and ice cream with caramel topping is the featured dessert. Numerous homemade items will be available. Pumpkin custard pies are available but must be preordered by Oct. 22 online at www.ziontamaqua.com or by calling 570-668-4451. Takeouts are available.

Ninety-three tricky trays are available for bidding. Winners will be drawn at the end of this event.

Trunk or Treat

Zion Lutheran Church in Tamaqua is hosting its third annual trunk or treat family event rain or shine from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 on Mauch Chunk Street between Greenwood and Market streets. In case of rain, the event will be held indoors. Tamaqua area families are welcome to this safe Halloween event sponsored by the Outreach Team at Zion.
