Police report on area crashes

Area police reported investigating the following crashes.

• On Sept. 29 at 1:51 a.m. a one-vehicle crash was reported along Fireline Road in Parryville, Carbon County. State police at Lehighton said Jose Galan, 46, of Parryville, drove a 2004 Subaru Outback off the road and struck a stone wall and then landed in a creek.

Galan was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, by Lehighton ambulance. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• State police at Lehighton reported on a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 10:41 p.m. Oct. 5 along Rolling Hills Road in Ross Township, Monroe County. Gavin A. Ficzko, 33, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck eastbound when the vehicle left the road at hit a tree.

Ficzko was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance for treatment of a suspected minor injury. The GMC was towed.

He was cited for the crash.

• State police at the Fogelsville barracks said a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Kenneth Horodenski Sr., 76, of New Tripoli, sustained damages in a hit-and-run incident that happened at 12:28 a.m. Sept. 20 on Interstate 78 in Weisenberg Township.

Police said he was westbound on the interstate and approaching an inactive construction zone that converted two lanes of travel into one functional lane when an unknown vehicle traveling behind the Equinox attempted to speed up and pass it on the left shoulder of the roadway, sideswiping it and then fleeing the scene.

• An Andreas man escaped injuries when his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado crashed after he swerved to avoid a deer. The incident happened at 12:48 a.m. Oct. 13 along Summer Valley Road (Route 895) in East Brunswick Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks said OIiver R. Kressley, 18, went off the road, struck a mailbox, then hit a tree.

The Silverado sustained disabling front end damages, police said.
