October 16, 1971 — After being held scoreless in the first half, Lehighton reaches the end zone four times — twice on offense and twice on defense — to gain a 28-6 Lehigh Valley League victory over Whitehall. Bob Sterling gets the Indians on the board early in the third quarter when he returns a fumble 80 yards for a touchdown, while Rich Hopstock gives the team the lead for good after a 5-yard scoring run. The winners, coached by Jim Wentz, receive a 3-yard TD run from George Barkanic in the final frame as well as a 40-yard pick-six from Dave Snyder.
