A motorcyclist was seriously injured this afternoon when involved in a crash along Route 895 in West Brunswick township. The crash occurred at 2:10 p.m. as the biker was traveling east and apparently slowed down to make a left turn onto Stevens Road.

Police said Gary L. Schaeffer , 73, of Middleport was driving an International Harvester tri-axle dump truck when he came up to a Harley Davidson driven by Jeffrey Mintzer, 51 of Schuylkill Haven.

Schaeffer struck the bike from the rear. Mintzer was treated at the scene before being flown by Medevac helicopter to Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest. Route 895 was closed as state troopers from Schuylkill Haven reconstructed the crash.
