October 12, 1984 — Two key defensive plays by Garth Lakitsky and Frank McCarroll help Tamaqua hold off Blue Mountain for a 19-14 victory. With the Blue Raiders trailing midway through the fourth quarter, Lakitsky intercepts a pass and returns it 52 yards for a go-ahead touchdown. On the ensuing drive for the Eagles, McCarroll comes up with a sack to help preserve the lead and the eventual win. Lakitsky also accounts for an offensive score, crossing the goal line from a yard out in the second quarter. Tamaqua, coached by Tom Bonner, also receives a 6-yard TD pass from John Hadesty to Tom Tracy.
