3 injured in crash on I-81

State police at Frackville reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 2:49 p.m. on Wednesday along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Kiersten L. Tokar, 28, of Hegins, was driving a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound when the Jeep went onto the west berm and into the grass median. The vehicle continued over the southbound lanes and struck the guide rail. The Jeep then went over the guide rail and rolled over several times while traveling down a steep embankment. The Jeep continued rolling into a wooded area where it came to rest on its roof facing east about 160 feet from the impact point with the guide rail.

Tokar and two passengers, boys ages 1 and 3, suffered minor injuries. The three were taken to St. Luke’s Miner’s campus in, Coaldale, by Ryan Township ambulance.
