On This Date: Oct. 8, 1965

October 8, 1965 — Paul “Minnie” Goida runs for one touchdown and throws for another to help Panther Valley defeat Shenandoah, 19-12, and give Frank DeFebo his first victory as head coach. Goida opens the game’s scoring in the second quarter when he caps a 75-yard drive with a 25-yard scoring run. Right before the half, he tosses a 20-yard TD pass to Frank Maholick. The winners, who also receive an interception on defense from Bob Henninger, receive a 1-yard tally from Bill Maynard in the secondhalf. That TD is set up by Mike Winsko’s 63-yard run.
