Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Sept. 26 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 46 members in attendance. The vice president opened the meeting with the reading “Autumn.”

Edith Varano, Gus Schlorf, Margie Skymba, SunLee Malik were all added to the sick list. Warm welcomes were extended to returning members Nancy Hess and Pat Brown.

Birthday wishes were extended to the following members who had birthdays in July, August or September: Rose Vallee, Joyce Krell, Nancy Gerber, Nellie Brennan, Marlene Randig, Ruthann Feane, MaryAnn Laughlin, Anthony Zahora.

An upcoming trip to either Shady Maple or Dutchway Kitchen, Lancaster is being planned for Monday, Oct. 7.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA. The next meeting will be held on Oct. 3.

Tamaqua Library

A Beef/Chicken Platter sale to benefit the Tamaqua Public Library, sponsored by Mauch Chunk Trust Co., will be held this Thursday. Pickup will be 4-6 p.m. at the library, 30 South Railroad St., Tamaqua. This event is advanced ticket sales only. For more information and prices, call 570-668-4660.

Andreas VFW

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the West Penn Township Annex.

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on Sept. 24 with 48 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the reading “Signs of Autumn.”

Congratulations were extended to Fred and Sherry Herb, who were celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary.

Members voted by a majority to move the meetings to Christ Church, Barnesville, effective Oct. 8.

Moneys for the Christmas Party will be accepted starting with the Oct. 8 meeting.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at Christ Church, Barnesvile at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 or older is welcome.

Primitive Methodist

The Rev. Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service with communion, this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday evening service will be held at the Hometown Nursing Center at 6:30 p.m.

Hope in the Mountains meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a Nar-Anon Family Group. For more information, call 570-952-5098.
