In February 2018, Connecticut tractor-trailer driver Michael Lawson was headed north on Route 61 in North Manheim Township when he lost control of his vehicle, striking a metal traffic signal post with the right front bumper of the truck tractor.

The traffic signal post, at the intersection of Routes 61 and 183, is owned by Schuylkill County. During a meeting Wednesday, the Schuylkill County Commissioners approved a release agreement with National Casualty, Western Express, Cottingham and Butler Claim Services for fixing the pole: $28,674.
