Pink Light Walk in Lehighton on Tuesday

The 13th annual Pink Light Walk will be held at the Lehighton Recreation Center on Tuesday. Check-in will begin at 5 p.m., with the walk to follow at 6 p.m. The walk will begin at the Lehighton Recreation Center and occur in the shape of the letter “P.” The “P” signifies Pink Light Walk.

All those participating are asked to wear a pink shirt to increase awareness of breast cancer and show their support for all survivors. In the event of inclement weather, all events will be held in the recreation center.

This year’s speaker will be from the American Cancer Society. Each survivor is also encouraged to share their story. Last year’s speaker was Belinda Fenstermaker of Lehighton. Belinda has a truly supportive team and followers.

Survivors who are interested may have their photo taken for the 2019 Carbon County Breast Cancer Survivor’s Wall which will be posted on Facebook.

There will be a 50/50 drawing and an “In the Pink” raffle. Funds from the event will be donated to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and this year, the donation will be made in honor of all survivors who participate in the walk. The basket raffle is open to the public.

The breast cancer coalition represents, supports and serves breast cancer survivors and their families in Pennsylvania through educational programming, legislative advocacy and breast cancer research grants.

The Lehighton Ambulance and the “Pink Heels” Fire Truck and ambulance will be showing off their pink. There is no charge to register or participate in the walk. Each participant who registers will receive a pink glow bracelet and each survivor will receive a glow bracelet and gift. Following the walk, light refreshments will be served.

Vendors interested in partnering with the Lioness Lions Club are asked to call Alicia at 570-325-8685. Cost for vendors is $10 for a 10x10 area. Vendors must provide their own tables and chairs.

Participants are asked to pre-register at pinklightwalk@yahoo.com or call 610-554-1595 and provide name, address, telephone number & email address and indicate whether a survivor or supporter. If registering a team the name of each team member and number attending should be included. Registration deadline is Sept. 30. Event will be held rain or shine.
