Taxpayers need to send the message

Editor:

The time is coming when homeowner taxpayers of Monroe County can have their say. The reassessment project has been completed and our heartless politicians are providing no relief to the anxiety and fear it has created. More and more “for sale” signs are popping up in neighborhoods all over the county, and my husband and I are in the process of preparing the home we love for the real possibility that we may have to try to sell it and move.

But we can send a message to those people who forced all this on us. First and foremost, we MUST NOT reward the two sitting county commissioners that hatched this evil plot with re-election. Vote for anyone or anything, but not Moyer and Garris. The other choices are slim at best, but these two guys have got to go. SEND THE MESSAGE!

Second, scrutinize the agendas of all the candidates running for school boards. Anyone who does not put the homeowner taxpayer first and foremost should not and MUST NOT get your vote. Vote for no one who has been previously employed by a school district, in any capacity, as this constitutes an obvious conflict of interest. They’re probably receiving pensions … and you know where that pension money comes from … right out of your pocket. So, former teachers, administrators, even janitors … no thank you. SEND THE MESSAGE!

We have got to get a handle on runaway property taxes before it’s too late. Unfortunately, it’s already too late for many seniors on fixed incomes. If for no other reason … do this for them. SEND THE MESSAGE!
